Hang in there Bernie!
Ok, I like many was in shock for a long time over this whole Bernie Ward indictment. I mean come on, Bernie has help shape my political views for the past 20 years and a lot of who I am today reflects on a lot of what Bernie taught me. Not only about politics, but about being a person and a father. With that being said, I refuse to bail on Bernie so quickly. If it comes out, without a doubt, that Bernie accesses and distributes child porn, for anything other than real research, then I will be the first to condemn him and move on. However, it just doesn’t fit. Bernie has always said to be skeptical of the government and that’s what I intend to do in regards to this case. They need to prove it and I also need to hear from Bernie before I throw him under the us
Anyone who comes across this post and feels like they need to express themselves, please post here. Put the word out to all Bernie listeners that they have a place to talk. That has been the hardest part, not being able to talk this out with the group I have enjoyed listening and talking to (via Bernie’s show) for so long.
and to Bernie Ward, hang in there. We all needed a little time to take all this in. Unfortunately you had to spend the holidays feeling left behind by all your listeners. We are here for you now and will continue to be until someone can prove to us bad intentions.

Although this is admittedly simply conjecture at this point, it seems from what I have read that Bernie emailed these photos to right wing people hoping to entrap them and write a book about hypocrisy. If this is true, I have no pity on him. I don't like entrapment when the Government does it and for a private citizen to dangle kiddie porn in front of somebody who might have a weakness or temptation for such is depraved in my mind. His defense at this point is "research" and I would be particularly interested in what this research entailed.
I understand he made a bad choice, and I'm sure he does also. But that should not get him labeled as some sort of petifile which some have suggested. They always throw out the fact that he was a priest.
Anyways, thanks for your comment. We disagree as I would have a lot of pity for him if the goverment was informed that he was doing this research and still indicted him.
I DO NOT believe for ONE minute that he is ANYTHING but a VERY popular talk show host who got railroaded because he made some bad decisions. If he was researching into a book on kiddie porn (which I believe) he should have deleted the files in question and "scrubbed" his drive afterward. The problem stems from the amount of time from the begining of his research, then no book, then no deletion.
If he is anything like me, I forget that among thousands of files on my hard drives (currently 2.6 Terabytes of storage) that some of them could be compromising. I guess the law has come to a point where mere possession of these files is a crime, whether you share them or not.
To say Bernie Ward had a lot of enemies would be a statement of the obvious. I would not be surprised if this turned out to be the work of some Ultra right wing nut. Probably "God" appeared to this guy and told him to take down Bernie Ward. He probably had NO TROUBLE finding like minded nut jobs who conspired to set him up.
Bernie Ward made "bad decisions" and is being railroaded? He was sending out child porn.
Child porn is the visual representation of a crime. How would you feel if you were raped and the photos and videos of your violation were then used as some sort of "sting" (which is a bullshit excuse and you people know it)to expose hypocrisy? How would it feel if this was your son or daughters abuse being explioted by your hero to make some sort of political point?
Your hero's a pervert and that sucks. But sorry kids that's life. Maybe uinstead of lionizing some radio host you can go out and live your life how you choose with the virtual validation of a celebrity father figure.
Instead of looking for heroes, try being one for the kids whose picture Ward exploited and tell Ward loud and clear this is entirely unacceptable.
But you won't, you'll find some other pervert to tell you how to live your life, what to believe, who to vote for etc. And while you do that instead of butching up and helping others, how many kids are being abused by perverts like Ward?
In other words, learn from this, be your own person and go volunteer somewhere with kids who need you.
Those who think the court will drop charges against Bernie and that he will resume his former job at KGO are dreaming. His radio talk show career is over.
Even if the charges were to be dropped, KGO and its parent company are not going to risk the loss of advertising revenue from sponsors who want no connections, even remote, with child porn.
Did he try to entrap some conservatives by sending the porno material to them? If so, expect lawsuits from them against Bernie and possibly against KGO.
Was he really researching material for a book? He's not shown any other materials for this book. If he has them, this is a pretty good time to put them on the table.
Finally, was this his only venture into the insidious world of child pornography? If his prosecutors have any evidence of prior involvement with those terrible materials, Bernie may be headed for prison.
The ability to pray never seemed to be a requirement for membership in the Church of the Holy DoNut, but now is the time for his Crispy Creme followers to get on their knees.

I don't condone child pornography in any sense at all, but try to remember that pornography on the internet is the most popular of all subjects for people to look up. I'd be willing to bet just about everybody, including those here who think Bernie Ward is guilty, have probably looked at pornographic web pages.
Think about this if you will: if it wasn't for people like Bernie who stand against the fanaticism of the religious right, just staring at a naked body might be cause for everybody here to also end up in his situation.
I agree that child pornography is child abuse in the worst way and when people look at pictures or buy products relating to it, they are also contributing to it.
Are any of us less guilty of child abuse when we buy shoes with a Nike label that have been made in a sweatshop overseas?
I think that's a bad move thanks for sharing this post.
